•  Observe and celebrate Earth Day [Thursday, April 22 nd ] “mobilizing the power of people to create change by taking small steps in our homes, schools and businesses adding to an enormous collective action”

•  Host our 10 th annual Cesar E. Chavez Community Tribute , highlighting the legacy and lessons of the venerable labor leader and environmentalist, Cesar E. Chavez [Friday, April 23rd]

•  Celebrate the grand opening of our first farmer's market.

 

Third quarter [summer / fall]

•  Quarterly Community (Educational /Training/Networking) Forum July 2010

•  Host a summer gardening camp for residents (youth and adults)

 

Fourth quarter [fall / winter]

•  Quarterly Community (Educational /Training/Networking) Forum October 2010

•  Observe World Food Day [ Saturday, October 16 th ] to heighten public awareness of the problem of hunger in the community and the world and to promote the transference of skills to grow and prepare food;

•  Host a C ommunity Kwanzaa, an African American “First Fruits” celebration of family, community and culture – highlighting the principle of Nia [Thursday, December 30 th ].

 

Throughout the year we will look for opportunities to connect wellness activities with cultural expressions and civic engagement around food security and social justice.
