The Community Wellness Campaign is an annual campaign which provides opportunities for individuals, corporations, faith-based groups, social clubs and non-profits to support our work through partnerships and donations (in-kind or cash). The focus is on developing support for programs and activities to engage residents and other stakeholders in our new initiative - The People’s Produce Project. We envision many community forums, celebrations and learning opportunities at farmer’s markets and growing places in Southeastern San Diego. Events include Cesar E. Chavez Community Tribute - A multicultural showcase of talent and activities highlighting the legacy and lessons of the venerable labor leader and environmentalist; Earth
Day Observance and Celebration – A community forum in which the mobilization of local people takes place to create change by taking small steps in our homes, schools and businesses adding to an enormous collective action; Celebration of Life - An annual community reception for cancer survivors and caregivers which serves to increase the awareness of cancer in our community; World Food Day Observance – An annual event to heighten public awareness of the problem of hunger in the community and the world and to promote the transference of skills to grow and prepare food ; and Community Kwanzaa Celebration - An African American “First Fruits” celebration of family, community and culture.
