•  Active Support of American Cancer Society Relay for Life Southeastern San Diego

•  PNV receives the Harold P. Freeman Award from the CA Division of the American Cancer Society for contributions to reduce the cancer burden in underserved communities of San Diego.

2006
•  CHC / PNV moves from its neighborhood center on Logan Avenue to the newly opened Tubman Chavez Multicultural Center.
•  Entered in to a partnership with Overcoming Gangs and Beyond to address violence in intimate relationships among youth.

2005
•  PNV receives a Crime Fighter Award from Congressman Bob Filner for outstanding and invaluable service to the community
•  CHC celebrates 20 years of service

2004
•  CHC / PNV successfully submits a grant proposal to CTCNET for the Southeaster San Diego Youth Networking and Communication (SYNC) project.
•  CHC / PNV receives access funds to increase the capacity of the community technology lab for persons with disabilities

2003
•  CHC successfully submits a grant proposal to the First 5 California Commission for Early Childhood Development education

2002
•  CHC entered into a Learning Partnership with the Jacobs Neighborhood Innovation Center

2001
•  CHC secures a Youth Development contract with Metro United Methodist Urban Ministry
•  CHC / PNV organizes and trains forty-two community residents as environmental advocates

2000
•  CHC / PNV organized its first Cesar E. Chavez Community Tribute in response to the state holiday
•  CHC / PNV implements Youth Wellness Clubs and opens it's community technology center

1999
•  CHC / PNV established a leadership role in developing and implementing the San Diego Affordable Housing Coalition
•  CHC successfully applies for the City of San Diego Community Development Black Grant (CBDG)
•  CHC / PNV successfully applies for the California Wellness Foundation Children, Youth and Community Health Initiative - Wellness Villages $1,000,500 over 3.5 years

1998
•  CHC / PNV opens the Project New Village Neighborhood Resource Center on Logan Avenue
•  CHC / PNV becomes involved with the Partnership for Excellence in Health

1997
•  CHC / PNV successfully submits an application to the California Wellness Foundation Children, Youth and Community Health Initiative
•  CHC / PNV organizes 200 childcare providers to address Welfare Reform in San Diego County
•  CHC / PNV participates in the development of the Central Region Alliance

1996
•  CHC successfully secured the Male Involvement Program from the California State Department of Health Services, Office of Family Planning.
•  CHC Executive Director, N. Diane Moss , received national recognition as a recipient of the Robert Wood Johnson Community Health Leadership Program

1995
•  CHC established a leadership role in developing and implementing the County's AB1741 funded collaborative in Southeastern San Diego and participated in the coordination of services via " Project New Village ".
•  CHC began the Lifestyles Youth Conference series for young adults in San Diego .

1994
•  CHC joined a consortium consisting of the California Black Health Network and the Southeast Counseling & Consulting Center to provide tobacco prevention education to African Americans residing in Southeastern San Diego .
•  CHC developed a youth theater component, Reality Performing and Visual Arts Theater Company, a vehicle for youth to promote healthy lifestyles to their peers.
•  CHC was awarded a contract, with San Diego County under the Ryan White Funds, Title I C.A.R.E. Act to provide HIV / AIDS outreach to African American Youths, ages 14 - 24 years old in the communities of Southeastern San Diego .

1993
•  CHC became a charter member of the Center for the Study and Prevention of Violence, a community based coalition.
•  CHC became a member of the strategic Planning Committee with the San Diego County Health Department to develop "Healthy San Diego, a plan for year 2000".

1992
•  CHC chosen as consultant for the California State Office of Family Planning and ETR Associates to develop and facilitate trainings for twenty-eight state funded ENABL projects.
•  CHC touted as "The Experts" in California for training teen leaders in using the abstinence-based curriculum "Postponing Sexual Involvement"

1991
•  CHC developed and produced an educational video titled "STRAIGHT TALK about teen pregnancy" in conjunction with Excalibur Productions
•  CHC expands its scope of work to include the prevention of HIV/AIDS, tobacco use and violence among youths.

1990
•  CHC became eligible for designated funds from the United Way of San Diego County . As an unfunded certified agency, we participate in the United Way Speaker's Bureau and receive in-kind donations.

1989
•  CHC participates in the Children's Defense Fund Child Watch National Steering Committee - San Diego

1988
•  CHC in collaboration with Planned Parenthood created and produced an educational video, titled "You Have a Choice", aimed at dispelling the muths around self sufficiency and public welfare system
•  Diane Moss hired as Executive Director

1987
•  CHC successfully submitted a grant application to the Kaiser Family Foundation for $4,500 for a three year period. Participated in the KKF Western Region Health Promotion Initiative which included Technical Assistance from Stanford University and Evaluation from the University of Washington at Puget Sound ; $20,000 matching funds was received from San Diego Community Foundation ( Betty Upham fund)
•  CHC Board of Directors hire the first Executive Director - Gayle Daniels; Ms. Daniels hires the initial staff - Diane Moss , Health Educator, Abasi Mudada - Outreach Worker, Michael Bass - Youth Worker
•  CHC collaborated with San Diego Urban League, Planned Parenthood and Comprehensive Health Center to host our first National Sexuality Education Month event - "It's A Family Affair" at the Jackie Robinson YMCA

1986
•  Bylaws were established; CHC was incorporated and established as a 501 c3 public charity; Ballard Cheatem was selected as the CPA

1985
•  Selection of the first board of Directors for Children Having Children
•  Bea Kemp, Esq. prepared and submitted the papers for Incorporation and filed our application to the internal Revenue service for 501 c3 status
•  Conducted a community survey in southeastern San Diego to the sense of the opinions regarding teenage pregnancy and the use of comprehensive health clinics located on public high school campuses.

1984
